Briefly: California regulators OK plan to use flood water to restore underground aquifers

The Los Angeles Times reports that California has approved diverting more than 600,000 acre-feet of water from the San Joaquin River and using it to restore aquifers and wildlife habitat. An acre-foot of water equals nearly 326,000 gallons.
