Briefly: California farmers set to cut Colorado River water use

The LA Times reports that under a new program approved by the board of the Imperial Irrigation District Farmers can now apply for federal funds to compensate them for harvesting less hay. The water reduction program is intended to help boost the levels of the Colorado River which has been depleted by chronic overuse, years of drought and high temperatures caused by climate change.
