The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Nevada, as part of written comments submitted to the federal government over changes to Colorado River operating rules, has called for Utah, as well as Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming, to cut back water use by 500,000 acre-feet to help bolster levels in Lake Powell. The Upper Basin states, however, maintain that overuse of the river has occurred largely in Arizona, California and Nevada and that, therefore, more significant water cuts should come from those states.
