According to The Colorado Sun, a $134 million proposal to build a pipeline and reusable water loop through El Paso County may help to alleviate stress placed on the nonrenewable Denver Basin aquifers. The pipeline would allow the homes in subdivisions north and east of Colorado Springs to use southern water rights and promote water recycling. However, funding is currently dependent on the American Rescue Plan. Colorado water officials are hopeful that some of the $1.9 trillion stimulus can be used for drinking water supply projects like this.
