KRCC reports that officials are releasing 2,500 acre-feet of water from Twin Lakes into the Arkansas River to support fisheries and recreation amid historic drought and high temperatures. Releases were set to begin as early as August 7 and will run through November. Those collaborating to release this water include the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District, Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and Colorado Water Trust.
