Briefly: Record levels of drought sweep United States

The New York Times reports that nearly all states in the nation are experiencing some level of drought. To date, Kentucky and Alaska are the only two that remain wet. In June roughly one-quarter of the country saw dry conditions, while now nearly 90% of the nation is in drought.
