Fire hydrants ran dry as Pacific Palisades burned. L.A. city officials blame ‘tremendous demand’

According to the Los Angeles Times, wildfires, fueled by an ongoing drought and high winds, raged across Los Angeles on Tuesday. Fire fighting crews battling the Palisades fire faced an additional burden: scores of fire hydrants in Pacific Palisades had little to no water flowing out. However, this was not a problem unique to this fire and highlights the under-investment in water infrastructure in the city.
