Briefly: Rusty crayfish, an ‘aquatic nuisance,’ discovered in northern Colorado river

According to the Denver Post, a new invasive species has been discovered in a Larimer County river south of Estes Park. The rusty crayfish is much larger and more aggressive than native crayfish, out-competing them for food and resources. This could have implications on native crayfish species and critical aquatic vegetation. Colorado Parks and Wildlife believes they were introduced after anglers used them as bait.
