Briefly: Radioactive waste from Colorado’s uranium mines was once used in gardens, houses

According to the Denver Gazette, Colorado was once a source of uranium with many mines along the Dolores River. However, Grand Junction residents have recently become aware that the sandy soil that they were using in their gardens and homes was actually radioactive waste tailings from past mines. This has caused alarm around radon exposure with limited response from the government.
