Briefly: New research shows high altitude hay meadows struggle to recover from temporary water cuts

Aspen Journalism reports that a multi-year analysis of fallowing programs on high country hay meadows in the Upper Colorado River Basin show that meadows take longer to recover when water is removed for an entire season, and do better with partial irrigation during the growing season. The findings are important in finding the best ways to conserve farm water while maintaining productivity, experts said.
