Briefly: New Mexico’s “blue hydrogen” proposal generates controversy

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration plans to introduce a bill that would offer tax incentives to develop the necessary infrastructure and supply chain to establish what she refers to as a “low-carbon hydrogen economy.” The governor presented the Hydrogen Hub Act as a way of reducing the state’s reliance on the fossil fuel industry. However, the system requires a natural gas component that has stirred opposition from environmental groups.
