Briefly: March heat wave melts Colorado River water supply forecast

KUNC reports that forecasts for the Colorado River have been downgraded after last month’s record-breaking heat wave. In a briefing on Tuesday, the Colorado River Basin Forecast Center projected that just 1.4 million acre-feet of Colorado River water will reach Lake Powell through July — that’s less than a quarter of what’s considered normal, and nearly a million acre-feet less than what was projected a month ago.
