According to the Denver Gazette, on Monday, the City of Manitou Springs announced a ban on all water use except for essential drinking purposes. As a result, the Manitou Springs School District 14 canceled classes for all students on Tuesday. The shortage was the result of several factors including storms leading to high turbidity in the raw water entering the Manitou Springs Water Treatment Plant as well as leaks in a major pipeline.
