The Colorado Sun reports that a Longmont-based water district has agreed to give up the right to build a major dam on South St. Vrain Creek and will eventually store its water from the creek in a more environmentally sensitive way, possibly using gravel pits along the creek farther east. The agreement came after activist Gary Wockner and his organization, Save the World’s Rivers, objected to the project in water court.
