According to EcoWatch, a recent feasibility study published in Nature Sustainability found that the installation of solar panels over California’s network of water canals could save the state an estimated 63 billion gallons of water and produce 13 gigawatts of renewable power every year. Placing solar panels over the canals would provide shade, potentially reducing water evaporation and boosting solar panel efficiency.
