According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints based in Salt Lake City, Utah is working to increase water efficiency at its meetinghouses across the West including in Arizona, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. By installing over 1,800 “smart controllers,” the church plans to save up to 500 million gallons of water or about 1,534 acre-feet. The new controllers are irrigation systems, including sprinklers, that adjust water output based on the weather.
