Briefly: Groundwater is rapidly declining in the Colorado River Basin, satellite data show

According to the Los Angeles Times, scientists from Arizona State University utilized decades of satellite data to show that the depletion of groundwater in the Colorado River Basin is far exceeding the losses from the river’s reservoirs. Their study found that overpumping is leading to a rapid decline in groundwater resources, which is exacerbating the current strain on the Southwest’s water supplies.
