Briefly: E. coli in aging pipes left Baltimore residents without water for days

The Washington Post reports that deteriorating water delivery pipes were responsible for E. coli entering Baltimore’s water supply, forcing thousands of residents to use bottled water for five days in September until the system could be disinfected. The problem came on the heels of another breakdown in urban water supply in Jackson, Mississippi.
