The Aurora Sentinel reports that Aurora Water is making an effort to promote more xeriscaped landscaping and reduce water usage by launching a contest to highlight the benefits of a water-wise yard as the state grapples with below-average snowpacks. The water department is offering to overhaul the yard of one local resident by removing turf and adding flora and rocky outcroppings. Residents interested in participating in the contest have been asked to post a minute-long video explaining why they deserve a retooled lawn to their social media accounts tagging @AuroraWaterCO.
