Tour Description

WEco’s 2026 Annual River Basin Tour will be held August 5, 2026. The tour will focus on the S. Platte River Basin. Click here to sign up for the tour! 

What you’ll experience on the tour: 

  • Riding on a comfortable, climate-controlled coach bus with fellow tour participants through a beautiful part of Colorado!
  • Visiting multiple natural, municipal, and commercial sites around the Golden/Front Range area.  
  • Speakers with broad perspectives discussing water issues, how water ties into other sectors, and how the drought is impacting all aspects of Colorado water.
  • On-the-ground examples of novel techniques driving water innovation and sustainability.
  • One full day of learning and exploration!

Arrival for those staying in Golden the night before the tour

August 5

Henderson Mine – learn about how large scale mining works, environmental restoration efforts, and the administration of the Denver and Golden Water reservoirs on site. 

Clear Creek Canyon Corridor – learn about the engineering effort to create a recreation area in the canyon. 

Golden Whitewater Park – learn about the importance of RICDs and whitewater parks on recreation for municipalities, and the floodplain work that the Mile High Flood District did in conjunction with Molson Coors. 

Coors Brewery – learn about novel brewing techniques used to save millions of gallons of water, and about the history of Coors. 

Cost and inclusions

Registration Fee

  • Early Bird WEco Members: $225 (available through July 15)
  • Early Bird Non-WEco Members: $250 (available through July 15)
  • WEco Members: $250 (July 16 – registration close)
  • Non-WEco Members: $275 (July 16 – registration close)

Scholarships

A limited number of partial scholarships are available, thanks to support from our sponsors. Please contact Sabrina Scherma by email at sabrina@wateredco.org if you are interested in being considered for a scholarship. Students, teachers, elected officials and staff from nonprofit organizations will be prioritized for scholarships.

Meals and Lodging

This one-day tour includes lunch, snacks, and appetizers on August 5. Hotel booking is not included in the tour registration fee. After you register, we will send information about booking your stay at the hotel we will be departing from and staying at for the one overnight, using our group rate. The bus will depart from and return to the hotel at the end of each day. Participants electing to stay somewhere else will be responsible for their own travel to and from the hotel starting/ending point.
