Briefly: Feds say wetland loss rates up 50% since 2009

The Deseret News reports that wetlands nationwide continue to disappear at an alarming rate, according to a new report from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and now cover just 6% of land in the lower 48 states as of 2019. Loss rates have increased by 50% since 2009. The federal agency said the report should serve as a call to action to address the ongoing losses.
