According to the Los Angeles Times, researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory found that winters with low snow, or even no snow, could become a regular occurrence in as little as 35 years. Snowpack in the Sierra Nevada and Cascade ranges could decline 45% by 2050 and 25% in the Rockies and the Wasatch-Uinta. Most reasons for snow loss are associated with climate change. Solutions include water conservation, infrastructure investments, desalination, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
