According to a report by Aspen Journalism, local governments and environmental groups want Colorado Stone Quarries, a marble mining company that illegally moved a tributary to the Crystal River, to restore damaged wetlands throughout the river’s watershed. The mitigation work would help compensate for damage caused when the company relocated a section of Yule Creek, without required approvals, in order to build a new access road to its mine above the town of Marble.
