The Salt Lake Tribune reports that St. George, Utah, facing fast-growth and a dwindling Colorado River, has reversed course on water conservation, tearing out lawns and forcing builders to change their standards to incorporate water-wise devices and practices. The local conservancy district is implementing a Water Efficient Landscape Rebate program that has led to nearly 1.5 million square feet of grass being converted into water-efficient landscaping.
