Wyoming Public Radio reports that Nevada farmers, and others across the West, are agreeing in record numbers to cut back their use of groundwater in exchange for cash. Nevada, for instance, has some $25 million in federal pandemic aid set aside to retire water rights, a move growers and water officials hope will allow the state’s rapidly diminishing groundwater supplies to recover from years of overpumping.
