The Denver Post reports that high temperatures and low water levels in the North Platte River in southern Wyoming are creating a stressful environment for trout. With lower water levels, the streams heat up faster, carrying less oxygen for the trout and making it more difficult for them to survive catch-and-release fishing. The stresses of climate change are especially concerning for cutthroat trout, which are native to the Rockies.
